Whether you’re a rifle or shotgun owner or just someone interested in getting a handgun, the most important thing about gun ownership is safety. Even though a course is not required to own rifles and shotguns in NY, safety training is highly recommended. And, if you’re interested in getting a handgun permit in NYS, a certified course is required.
To help our WNY neighbors be safer, more responsible gun owners, EMPact America of New York is teaming up with Rivera Investigations to offer a course from top, certified instructors – it’s called the “SAFE: Basic Firearms Safety Pistol Permit Course.” In only two years, EMPact America of New York and Rivera Investigations have helped train over 3,000 WNYers.
The class will be a certified NY Pistol Permit Course and will include basic rifle, shotgun and handgun safety, range safety, home safety (including proper storage and use), firearm familiarity, functioning, operation, care and nomenclature – and other state-required topics – plus, what to do (and not do) in the event of a home intruder.
Residents outside of Erie County, please be sure to check with your County Clerk for the Rules and Regulations regarding the class instructor and content requirements. Some counties outside of Erie have specific instructor requirements.
*** Valid NYS drivers license/ID required at check in. Sign up registrant must match your own personal identification at the door. No exceptions.***
